Shiba Inu Puppy
Meat Boy from Super Meat Boy (PC and XBox 360; October, 2010) created by Team Meat (Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes) of Santa Cruz, California and Asheville, North Carolina.
One of those charmingly meta games I find are becoming quite iconic of second-decade American gaming. I know a lot of people are getting tired of these sorts of indie hipster affectations, where everything is full of puke or communism or is a fetus or whatever, but I think Meat Boy does it as well as it’s ever going to be done.
A Big Daddy and Little Sister from Bioshock (August, 2007) developed by 2K Boston of Boston, Massachusetts.
Since politics is so much of what I’m into, I appreciated Bioshock’s aggressively political setting. Unfortunately, it seems the game’s actual political message was, at best, extraordinarily muddled. The upcoming Bioshock Infinite looks to be a bit less confused.

David 8 can record, process, understand and express many complex emotions, but he will never know true human feelings such as love, grief and compassion.
Creepy Fassbender robot.
Maxwell from Scribblenauts (DS; September, 2009) and the generic Hero from Drawn to Life (DS; September, 2007) both created by 5TH Cell Media of Bellevue, Washington.
Somehow, I’ve never played either of these drawing-based games for the DS. But look how cute they are!
